Pupil Premium

At The Ridge Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential, regardless of their background or circumstances. The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to support pupils who may face barriers to learning, including those who are eligible for free school meals, have been eligible within the past six years, are looked after children or previously looked after children, or have parents in the armed forces.

Our aim is to use this funding strategically to diminish the difference in attainment between disadvantaged pupils and their peers, while also supporting their wider wellbeing, confidence, and aspirations.

We take a whole-school approach to supporting disadvantaged pupils, focusing on high-quality teaching, targeted academic support, and wider strategies that remove barriers to learning. We carefully assess the needs of our pupils and tailor our provision to ensure all children are supported effectively.

The Pupil Premium is used to:

  • Provide targeted academic support through small group interventions and additional teaching
  • Enhance classroom teaching through staff training and evidence-informed strategies
  • Offer pastoral support to improve wellbeing, attendance, and engagement
  • Subsidise educational visits, residential trips, and extracurricular activities
  • Provide access to resources, including books, technology, and enrichment opportunities

The report below sets out how we allocate Pupil Premium funding and the impact of our strategy.
